BBP - December Birthstone Duo Swatches and Review

Wednesday, November 22, 2017
bad-bitch-polish-december-duo-collage

*Press Samples* Today I have swatches of these beauties from Bad Bitch Polish. I'm a sucker for anything blue so you know I loved these. The December birthstone duo from BBP consists of a jelly and a holo just like all the others. December has 2 stones, either Tanzanite or Turquoise so Britt did a color for each stone.

Turquoise Meteor - is described as a deep dark turquoise jelly polish with a variety of shapes and shades of turquoise glitters and flakies. Swatch was 2 coats with top coat. Formula was excellent as usual, it's smooth, it stays put, not runny, great glitter to base ratio, dries down smooth and shiny. It did not stain my skin or nails. And it looks awesome matted with a matte top coat.

Cerulean Sky - described as a sky blue linear holo. Swatch is 2 coats with topcoat. Formula for this one is not as opaque as BBP's usual holos but still very nice. Easy to apply, not streaky, a little thin but not too runny. Dries to a shiny finish on it's own, but I always use topcoat to help it dry faster.

Bad-Bitch-Polish-September-Duo-Swatches-Review

*Press Samples* Today I have the September Duo from Bad Bitch Polishes. For this month BBP has two gorgeous blue holo polishes, with slightly different finishes. Live swatch video is below, so you can see how great and easy they are to use, and photos after that.

Blue Moon - described as a deep dark blue linear holo.

Swatches are 1 coat with *no* top coat. Application was a breeze, super easy and perfectly opaque. Not too thick or thin, doesn't run, stays exactly where you put it. I mean, Britt from Bad Bitch Polish has been doing this for a while and her formula is pretty much perfect. I did have slight staining on my skin from clean up and removal but not on my nails, but that is to be expected with very saturated blues. My recommendation, use a good base coat and some type of liquid latex around your cuticles to make it easier.

Blue My Mind - described as a sapphire blue jelly with holo glitters and a slight linear holo effect.

Swatches are 2 coats with 1 coat of Pretty and Polished Swift Sparkle top coat. I would describe the holo in this as more scattered, or at the very least more sparse. It does look a bit linear but it's no where as strong a Blue Moon. My lights to capture the holo better kinda obscured the glitters a bit but this polish is a gorgeous squishy blue jelly while at the same time being nicely pigmented that you only need 2 coats. You can check the video above for an accurate view at how it applies and looks. It's also easy to work with and while it does dry to a shiny finish, I added top coat to smooth it out some more. There are no glitters sticking out or anything like that but I did have some staining just like with Blue Moon.

If you like these and want to get your hands on them, they will be available September 1st at www.badbitchpolish.com. They will be $10 each or $19 for the duo. Make sure you're following BBP on Instagram, Facebook, and join the FB fan group for all the latest info and swatches!

I received these as press samples in exchange for photos and an honest review.

Untried Indies - Pahlish An Caisteal Ruadh

pahlish-an-caisteal-ruadh-swatch-1

I totally got this idea from Moni's Manis, she has a series where she posts swatches of her untried polishes in between press samples and nail art. I've been trying to make a dent in my untrieds by wearing a new one everyday. So I thought I would start posting some of them since I have quite a few. I started with Pahlish An Caisteal Ruadh from last year' fall collection. I'm shamed to say it sat untried for about a year until I finally wore it a month ago. Check below for more swatches and a short review.

orly-sweet-tart-red-jelly-swatch

Today is Simple Swatch Saturday with a bit of a nail polish fail thrown in. This was supposed to be my 1st attempt at a pond mani...yeah...nope. Can you see the flowers I stamped in between the layers of the red? Not really. Sigh. Anyway, the color is gorgeous so it still works as a great swatch! This is ORLY Sweet Tart, a red jelly that's so squishy and shiny and candy-like.

Blue Jelly Butterfly Nails

Blue butterfly nail art jelly sandwich

Hello readers! Today is Monday so that means a new Polishaholics Anonymous Monday Challenge. The theme is Jelly and Jelly Sandwiches. This week's BHB Nails thread challenge is butterfly nails, so I combined the two! It's Jelly Sandwich Butterfly Nails! (The BHB nail thread is part of Babycenter's BHB community board).

In case you don't know, a jelly sandwich is when you layer a translucent polish or "jelly" over a glitter polish. You start with a base coat, which can be your jelly or a creme of the same color, then you add a glitter, then your jelly. You can layer glitter and jelly as often as you want. I have about 5 layers in these pics, plus base and top coat.
