The Island Collection - Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer - Swatch and Review

soothing-soul-nail-lacquers-island-collection-review

*Press Samples*

Hey everyone! Long time no see. How's your summer going? Mine's been super busy, which is why I haven't had any posts in a while. I've painted my nails, I just haven't even photographed them, not even for IG! Le gasp. 😲 Today's review is for the new Island Collection from Soothing Soul Nail Lacquers. On to the swatches!

Actually, these all had a similar but great formula, so to save time (me writing and you reading), let's talk quickly about that first. All 5 colors in this collection will make you think of a nice beach vacation (which surprisingly for someone from the Caribbean who lives in Florida, I haven't had this summer...). They all have some nice strong shimmer effects, opaque in 2-3 coats (I'll specify for each color before the swatches), dried pretty shiny and quickly. What I love about the formula for these is that it self levels nicely and stays right where you put it, not runny or thick, just perfectly smooth and easy to apply. Ok now on to the swatches.

Lily Pad - shimmery jade green, slightly blue leaning. Swatches show 2 coats with topcoat.

Blue Lagoon - bright shimmery medium blue with the slightest hint of a darker indigo shade when it catches the light in certain angles. Swatch shows 3 coats with topcoat. This one is sheerer than the other 4 colors.

Chirality - Antonio Bay - June Polish Pickup - Indie Swatches

Tuesday, May 28, 2019
chirality-antonio-bay

For June 2019's Weather Phenomena theme I also received Chirality's Antonio Bay as a press sample to swatch and review. Inspired by the 1980's John Carpenter film The Fog. Amanda of Chirality sent me this as her description "Beware as the fog begins to roll into the small town of Antonio Bay. It has a metallic base color with blue/green/pink and gold/pink shifting pigments, along with copper flashes. Depending on the light and angle, it will appear mocha, mauve, silver, bronze, soft pink, or many other variations due to the shifty shimmer. Opaque in 2 thick or 3 thin coats. For best results, start with a good base coat and finish with a shiny top coat."

My swatches show 2 coats with a shiny topcoat. This polish is very unique, depending on the light you'll see hints of a mauve cocoa chrome look with flashes of pink and blue. I tried my best to capture the hints of the metallic base along with the pink flashes. If you look closely at the macro you can also the bits of blue. It's even prettier in person and in the sunlight.

You can see the pinky mauve color stand out in the bottle shot as well. Antonio Bay will be $10 for a 15ml bottle at http://www.polishpickup.com from June 7-10.

Sassy Cats Lacquer Ocean Wildfires - June Polish Pickup

Sassy Cats Lacquer Ocean Wildfires for June's Polish Pickup is a turquoise jelly polish with red-gold-green aurora shimmer and copper shimmer. It also has ultrachrome chameleon flakies that shift copper-green-gold and iridescent flakies that shift red-green-gold and blue crystal flakes. June 2019's theme is Weather Phenomena, Mohrayma of Sassy Cats was inspired by a viral photo of the recent California wildifres over Malibu. Ocean Wildfires is intentionally made to be sheer in 2 coats, to really let all those shimmers and flakies pop. You can layer it up to 3 coats for a deeper teal shade, or use as a topper in 1 coat. I have lots of swatches below!

Shinespark Polish Maveth - Aprill PPU - Swatch & Review

Shinespark Polish Maveth Direct Light- LED -Nikon
What's up online peeps?! I got press samples again! I got a huge package from my girl Molly at Shinespark Polish so I will have quite a few things to show you guys. First up is Maveth inspired by Agents of Shield, for April's Polish Pickup, theme is Across the Universe. This is a gorgeous multichome holo flakie polish that shifts from like a silvery blue to a purple/lavender. It's got a strong linear holo flame and holo flakies! The only frustrating thing is that the multichrome effect was hard to capture on camera. When Molly first mentioned it I was like...whut? No way, it's so shifty. But nope, she was right, it took so many shots and all day yesterday. And by the end I was like "it's shiftier than this in person!!!! Arghhhh!!!!". And gave up cause I was starting to neglect my kids. Point being, there's lots of swatches below in different lights and cameras. My cellphone caught the shift better but dulled the holo while my Nikon captured the holo nicely but no shift.

Formula was great! Nice and smooth. Swatches are 3 coats of polish, it starts out thin but reaches opacity on the 2nd coat. I added a 3rd cause I felt it looked even better that way. No staining on my nails or removal but I did have a ton of flakies stuck everywhere that I had to scrub at. That would be the only "issue".

Photo swatches, where to buy info, and live swatch video below. I highly recommend the video, especially the end so you can see the polish shifting better.

BBP - December Birthstone Duo Swatches and Review

bad-bitch-polish-december-duo-collage

*Press Samples* Today I have swatches of these beauties from Bad Bitch Polish. I'm a sucker for anything blue so you know I loved these. The December birthstone duo from BBP consists of a jelly and a holo just like all the others. December has 2 stones, either Tanzanite or Turquoise so Britt did a color for each stone.

Turquoise Meteor - is described as a deep dark turquoise jelly polish with a variety of shapes and shades of turquoise glitters and flakies. Swatch was 2 coats with top coat. Formula was excellent as usual, it's smooth, it stays put, not runny, great glitter to base ratio, dries down smooth and shiny. It did not stain my skin or nails. And it looks awesome matted with a matte top coat.

Cerulean Sky - described as a sky blue linear holo. Swatch is 2 coats with topcoat. Formula for this one is not as opaque as BBP's usual holos but still very nice. Easy to apply, not streaky, a little thin but not too runny. Dries to a shiny finish on it's own, but I always use topcoat to help it dry faster.

There will also be free shipping with domestic orders of $50+ and international orders of $100+. The Black Friday exclusive polish will be excluded from the sale. Sale starts tomorrow and ends Monday. Check out her  FB fan group for more info. I received these polishes as press samples in exchange for photos and an honest review.

BBP - November Duo Swatches and Review

Thursday, November 2, 2017
mamaheartspolish-bbp-nov-duo-collage

OMG you guys...two posts in 1 week! Can you believe it? Today I have swatches and a review on the November Duo from indie polish brand Bad Bitch Polish. All year long BBP has been coming out with these gorgeous jelly glitter and holo duos and I feel so blessed that I've been able to feature a few of them here in this blog. For November Britt has made one of my favorite duos to date. Check out below for why I liked this one so much.

Citrine Shimmer

Guys...my fingers are super oily in these shots, I apologize for that. When I swatched these a few weeks ago my fingers where super dry and flaky, I had to load up on the cuticle oil. Anyway, Citrine Shimmer is a gorgeously squishy jelly glitter polish with scattered holo flakies in an citrine orange base. It's super pretty and unique to my collection. Swatch is 3 coats with top coat. It dries shiny on it's own. The formula is just smooth, buttery perfection. Being a jelly, it does need a few coats to reach opacity. No staining or any issues to report.

Sunny Haze

Sunny Haze is a sorta burnt orange red holographic polish. Swatch is 2 coats with topcoat, although it dries shiny on it's own. Just like Citrine Shimmer, this color is very unique to my 1000+ nail polish collection. It's perfect for fall and has just the right amount of holo pigment to have a very intense rainbow flash without overpowering the base color. Britt is really a master at what she does and I feel these duos really showcase her talent well. Formula is also nice and buttery, a bit on the thinner side but not runny either, it's still very pigmented. If you load up a large drop on your brush then it will run, but you really just need a bit to get great coverage in just a few strokes.

Live Swatches

Overall, the November Duo from Bad Bitch Polish is an excellent addition to anyone's collection. The colors have great formulas that are a breeze to apply, in very wearable shades of orange that are perfect for fall. They are available now at www.badbitchpolish.com, $10 each or $19 for the duo.
Make sure you're following BBP on Instagram, Facebook, and join the FB fan group for all the latest info and swatches!
