Nail Polish Indie Brand Swatches and Review

Hello readers, today I have swatches and a review of 5 polishes from Nail Polish Indie Brand, which is run by Jodi. She let me pick out the colors I wanted to review so there's a mix of collections. Overall, I found the quality to be really good, the formula on all of them was nice and smooth and easy to use. All of the ones I picked where on a jelly base, some more sheer than others but most reached full opacity in 2-3 coats, except for one (Peachy Keen). They are also all 5 Free. Read on for more!

HePicksMyPolish Sept - Peach, Green, and Yellow

Hi guys! It's time for another edition of the He Picks My Polish Nail Art Challenge. This is a fun challenge hosted by Alessandra aka The Sparkle Queen. Anyone can join, you can find the group on Facebook for the Inlinkz code for bloggers or just use the hashtag #hepicksmypolish on Instagram. This month, since he kept forgetting to pick the actual polish, I just texted him at work and asked for 3 colors. He choose peach, green, and yellow. Now, I have a small collection compared to some Polishaholics but still...you'd think that out of 225+ polishes, that I'd have a large variety of yellows, green, and peach to choose from. Well, you'd be wrong. Apparently, most of my collection is blues, teals, purples, pinks, corals, and glitters of various kinds. There's more after the break!

Yume Lacquer - Moonlight Defenders Collection

Hi guys! I'm very excited for today's post. I have my first ever press samples for you! It's the Moonlight Defenders Collection from Yume Lacquer. Amanda sent me 4 polishes from the collection to review. This collection is based on Sailor Moon. Now, don't hate me but I never saw Sailor Moon, ok maybe I saw a few episodes here and there but in general anime and manga aren't my "thing". I do have a few series that I loved as a teen thanks to my friends lending me DVDs since a lot of them are anime/manga fans so I'm not clueless to it. Anyway, I really like these polishes and I think Amanda has done a great job. I have a lot of pictures, about 6 per polish so let's get started.

Oh I should mention, I wore all of these for at least 12 hours, some more, not on purpose but because I had to keep stopping in the middle of swatching to deal with life (pick up Princess A from school, bedtime battles and middle of the night wakening while I was trying to swatch, stuff like that) so I got to test their durability during multiple hand washings, cleaning, diaper changes, etc. I'm happy to report that wear on all of them was really good, no chips during the time I had them on, just some minor tip wear on my right hand and nothing on my left. Individual swatches and reviews after the break! (Make sure to click on "Read More").

Breaking the Biting Habit - Sept

Breaking-biting-habit-sept-2014

Hi guys! Today I have my Breaking the Biting Habit update for September 2014, aka how I stopped biting my nails. I haven't technically bitten my nails in... 2 months, I think? It's been a while. What I have had is lots of issues with the corners breaking. I keep talking about it because it keeps happening. I keep filing them short and rounding the edges and then it just seems like they aren't growing at all, which is very frustrating. Click on "Read More"!

For today's Mani Monday the theme is "inspired by a loved one" for last week's BHB Nail Club weekly challenge. I chose some simple stripe accents with Different Dimension's Light Year from the Cosmologically Speaking Collection. I also used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Kelp Yourself and Sinful Colors Professional in Tokyo Pearl for my accent. Before continuing I want to mention that I won this polish plus several others in an Instagram Giveaway hosted by Different Dimension. Also, I made a light box so in addition to my usual pictures in natural daylight, some of them will be either in the light box and/or with the LED lamp. Look at the captions to see what type of lighting I used. Now, on to the nails! (Make sure to click on "Read More".)

Colors of my Island - Mountains

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

Today I"m debuting a new monthly feature that I'm very excited about. It's called "Colors of my Island", every month I'll be taking something that I love about my homeland Puerto Rico and showcasing a mani inspired by it. Sometimes you'll see swatches and other times nail art. (There's more after the break!)

SOPI - Just A Little Dangerous Swatch

Hello readers! I hope you're all having a lovely Saturday. Today's Simple Swatch Saturday is an oldie, Sephora by OPI Just A Little Dangerous. A nice dark, vampy purple creme. Two coats for the pictures. I got this several years ago in a mini holiday set my sister gifted me. I love those SOPI polishes, it makes me sad that they got discontinued. The formula is perfect for me, not to thick, not to watery. The little brush of the mini bottle is perfect for my narrow and short nails. This color is a little sheer on the 1st coat, then opaque on the 2nd. No visible nail line, but you can see some of the sheerness near the cuticles. It's overall a really nice color, dries relatively quickly (5 mins or so between each coat) and shiny.

Hello lovely readers! Happy Labor Day to the ones in the USA, I hope most of you are enjoying your day off. For me, it means I have Princess A home from school so double the mess. Today I have some Peacock nail art with MoYou London's Tropical plate 01, CrowsToes Nail Color's Huginn & Muninn and China Glaze Watermelon Rind as the base. This post will be picture heavy because Huginn & Muninn is a color shifting multichrome so I took several shots to show the range of colors.
