High Fructose Victory Swatches and Review - Quaint Paints Lacquer

Hi guys, I have a Sunday morning post for you today. I hope you've all had a lovely post-holiday weekend. I've been trying to get this post written for a couple hours now but my son is right in the middle of the terrible twos stage and the morning tantrums are awful. He's currently on my lap watching educational videos on YouTube while I'm typing one handed on my PC and drinking my homemade peppermint mocha in a giant mug. Such is the life of a mom nail polish blogger.

Now, on to the polish! You ever receive a brand new polish and gasp when you put it on? And then not want to take it off because it ends up being so much prettier than the swatches you've seen online? That's what happened to me with High Fructose Victory from Quaint Paints Lacquer. Laura, the creator of Quaint Paints, sent me High Fructose Victory and Polishin' Around the Christmas Tree to review so read on for more swatches and my thoughts. High Fructose Victory is a super squishy red-pink jelly with gold holo stars and different sized red, gold, and orange hex glitters with small gold holographic glitter as well. It's based on the Fallout video games and because I'm not a gamer I'm going to copy/paste for you guys Laura's description.

This collection was inspired by the bottled soft drinks found scattered throughout the desolate Wastelands of the Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas video games. Never heard of the games? In a nutshell: the year is 2277 (2281 in New Vegas), 200 years after the world had been nuked by atomic warfare. Humanity persists, though day-to-day life is threatened by mutated monsters and humans alike. Throughout your travels, you'll often find pre-War, irradiated bottles of soda that are not only refreshing, but their caps are used as currency in this new world. High Fructose Victory is based off of Nuka Cola Victory, a rare variant of regular Nuka Cola, found in Fallout New Vegas.(source)

 Let's talk about the formula. Like I mentioned above, this is a jelly full of glitters, which tends to make them chunky and can be hard to apply. I like to use the dab method for applying all of my glitter polishes, it allows me to better control the polish and to place the glitters where I want them, without having too much of a mess on my fingers. The formula in High Fructose Victory is perfect for this technique, it's smooth and self levels for excellent coverage while the glitters stay where you put them. I just did two coats for all the pictures, with no undies, top coated with HK Girl from Glisten n Glow.

I've thought about making a video to show you guys how I do it, let me know if that's something anyone would be interested in. In the meantime, here's a few videos that are similar to my technique. This polish also glows in the dark! I had trouble capturing the glow since I don't own a UV blacklight flashlight (add to the list of things to get) and it's been rather cloudy the last couple of days. Here's my bottle shot showing you the glow, it's so blurry and I apologize but it's the best I could do.

I need to get a better setup for capturing glow in the dark polishes on camera. Anyway, it glows a bright red-orange. I don't know if it was my imagination or not but I noticed that the color seemed to darken just a bit when I was "charging" my nails in the sun and trying to get a good shot. So I have some sunlight pictures for you, so you can see the slight difference in color. I'm guessing it's due to the UV pigment reacting to the sunlight, since this isn't a color changing polish.

 See? The color looks just a little redder and brighter.

It's so sparkly! I wore this as my Christmas Eve mani because I did not want to take it off.
