Candy Cane French Tip Nail Art

Hi guys! Today I have my 1st holiday mani of the season to share with you. I created a red French Tip with candy cane watermarble accent and candy cane stamped decal. More pictures plus all the products I used are after the break!

Outside shade

First of all, look at how long my nails are! I've never had nails long enough for a proper French tip so I was very excited that I was able to pull this off. Unfortunately I couldn't do such a pretty job on my thumbs or right hand because those nails are still really nubby (but I'm working on it).

For this look I used my French tip nail vinyls from Glam My Mani (which where sent to me for review). It's very easy, just put on your protective or treatment base coat and once it's dry to stick on the vinyl. You can place the vinyl where you like to create a French tip as wide or thin as you please. I used this pretty holographic red from I Love Nail Polish called Very Ornamental for my tips. (This is no longer available for purchase). Remove the vinyls and you have an instant, perfect French tip. I then took a stripper brush and Wet n Wild Wild Shine in Metallica to paint a thin silver line beneath the red. Top coat and wait for it to dry.

Outside shade

For the watermarble I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On and China Glaze Seas The Day (neon red from the Summer 2014 Off Shore collection). I used the watermarble decal method that I first saw on YaGala (she has several videos where she shows you how). You create your design and wait for the polishes to dry in the cup, afterwards you can lift it up from the surface of the water and cut it. Then you place the section you like on your nail (make sure your base coat is sticky or tacky to the touch) and press it on. You finish by cleaning up the edges with acetone. It's much less messy and you don't run the chance of messing up your design when you dip the finger in the water, which has always been my issue. I also added one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust and then top coat.

Finally, for the candy cane decal I used an image from MoYou London plate Festive 01 and a dotting tool to paint in the red (Seas the Day). Add topcoat and wait for it to dry. Once it's dry, peel it off from the stamper and place on your nail and top coat. I don't have a specific tutorial for this since you can find a lot of YouTube videos showing you how to create a decal with stamps.
