Yume Lacquer - Moonlight Defenders Collection

Hi guys! I'm very excited for today's post. I have my first ever press samples for you! It's the Moonlight Defenders Collection from Yume Lacquer. Amanda sent me 4 polishes from the collection to review. This collection is based on Sailor Moon. Now, don't hate me but I never saw Sailor Moon, ok maybe I saw a few episodes here and there but in general anime and manga aren't my "thing". I do have a few series that I loved as a teen thanks to my friends lending me DVDs since a lot of them are anime/manga fans so I'm not clueless to it. Anyway, I really like these polishes and I think Amanda has done a great job. I have a lot of pictures, about 6 per polish so let's get started.

Oh I should mention, I wore all of these for at least 12 hours, some more, not on purpose but because I had to keep stopping in the middle of swatching to deal with life (pick up Princess A from school, bedtime battles and middle of the night wakening while I was trying to swatch, stuff like that) so I got to test their durability during multiple hand washings, cleaning, diaper changes, etc. I'm happy to report that wear on all of them was really good, no chips during the time I had them on, just some minor tip wear on my right hand and nothing on my left. Individual swatches and reviews after the break! (Make sure to click on "Read More").

Pink Lady - Sailor Chibimoon

Pink Lady- Yume Lacquer

Pink Lady is a really bright textured pink with holographic shimmer inspired by Sailor Chibimoon. This polish is really opaque and you can get away with one coat if you apply it carefully. It's pretty thick but it does not need thinner, it's easy to use. I have two coats in the pictures. What surprised me was that it was slightly textured and dries really quickly to a matte, sorta, satin finish. The pic above has no top coat and you can see how it's not super shiny but it has a nice sheen to it. I really liked the finish.

Here's a closer look at the textured finish, it's not bumpy at all (except my pinky, where I smudged it, sorry). You get excellent coverage with just two coats. Clean up wasn't bad either, like all glitter polishes there's always random bits that are more stubborn but it just took a few minutes with acetone.

I added some top coat to make it glossy and I love it! This is one coat of Out the Door.

Turbulent Space - Sailor Uranus

Turbulent Space - Yume Lacquer

Turbulent Space is a dark indigo blue based on Sailor Uranus. This is the only one I had minor issues with. It dries more textured than the rest and I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way. Apparently, my bottle had some pigment particles settle and clump together so I gave the bottle a good shake and tried again.

Turbulent Space
This is 2 coats without top coat. It's very pigmented and slightly textured.

It completely transforms when you top coat it, I used one coat of Out the Door. It becomes so squishy and shiny, you can see the depths of it.

A note on clean up and removal. Like all dark blue polishes I've come across so far, this one is a stainer. The staining wasn't too bad on my nail beds, the white free edge is sorta grey looking at the moment. However, the staining on the skin is bad, either clean up as you go or try using some glue around your cuticles before you get started. Just take some white school glue, put it in an empty polish bottle and use the brush to paint it unto your skin, wait for it to dry and then polish as usual. When you're done, just peel it off and most of the polish on your skin should lift away. Then you'll hopefully just have less to clean up.

Flame Warrior - Sailor Mars

Flame Warrior is a berry red matte with blue-purple shimmer. It's possibly my favorite of the 4. This one is gorgeous. The formula was really easy to work with, it dries to a matte-satin finish.

Here's how it looks without top coat, it's got a nice satin finish that still reflects light really well but you can't see the blue shimmer as much.

Here it is again with 1 coat of Out the Door.

Now it's a pretty, squishy, shimmery jelly.

So shiny! I really like this one.

Rainbow Heart - Sailor Moon

The last one I have to show you is Rainbow Heart, inspired by Sailor Moon. This is a soft pink with golden shimmer and holographic glitter. It also dries to a textured, satiny finish. The formula for this one is excellent, it's a jelly base, not too thick at all, really easy to apply. This is two coats without top coat.

The texture in this one is really soft, it catches the light in such a pretty way.

This is one coat of Out the Door. It's so pretty! I really like the golden shimmer in the base color.
