Lilly Anne's Garden Acetone Additive Review

Today I have a review for a new to me product from a new brand by IG swatcher @mrs.miscostello aka Misty. I've been having issues with the constant use of acetone on my skin and the fumes have been triggering headaches. So I asked in a FB group for any brand that made acetone additives without grapeseed oil (because I'm allergic to it). Misty responded letting me know that she had a brand new product that was grapeseed oil free and offered to send me a bottle to try out and review! So check below for my thoughts!


Acetone Additives are usually a mix of oils that you can add to a bottle of acetone to help make it less drying, while not compromising the ability to effectively remove nail polish. Now, I don't use acetone to remove my polish. When swatching I use a peel off base coat and for regular wear I use a non-acetone remover. But I still need to use it for clean up, I have narrow nails and most nail polish brushes are too big so I always end up with polish on my skin, no matter how carefully I apply it. Then there's glitters and gel polish, which will always need acetone to properly remove them. This was taking a toll on my skin and the smell of acetone was giving me daily headaches so I was super happy to be able to review this product.

Lilly Anne's Garden Acetone Additive comes in a 30ml bottle with a dropper top. This means that you can add the whole bottle to a 16oz bottle of acetone or you can just add a few drops to a dappen dish during clean up. This works out great for me! That way I can still have pure acetone for cleaning my stamping plates, and I can customize how much additive I want to use.

I've been using it for my swatches this past week and as you can see, adding a few drops doesn't reduce the effectiveness of the acetone is any way! I always apply oil on my skin during swatching sessions before polishing, that's why my skin looks shiny in the before shot. Even with that, acetone would still dry it out. Now with the additive, look at how nice it looks after clean up, without having to apply any more oil.
