*Press Samples* At some point, I really need to stop apologizing for lack of posts. Anyway, here's my super late swatches and reviews of the Spring 2017 collection from Pretty and Polished. The reason this is late is caused I was almost done swatching these when my son broke his arm. Like..I had literally just snapped a macro shot of Perennial Advisory in transition when the constant giggling I had been hearing coming from my bedroom was suddenly silenced by a loud thump, followed by my daughter yelling and asking if her brother was ok, which caused me to leap from my desk chair to find my 4 year old clutching his arm and crying. I wore that polish on just 4 fingers for 2 days, without any chips, and I mention this cause when I swatch, I don't intend to keep the polish longer than 30 mins and had oiled my nails prior to applying the base coat, since I wasn't intending for it to "stick". So umm, how about some swatches?
Perennial Advisory - $9 - A color changing thermal polish that starts of as a dark shade of raspberry pink and then changes to a pale peach when heat is applied. It has golden flakes as well as gold and purple holo microglitters. Formula was excellent. I don't remember how many coats I did, probably 2. (I tend to write that info down as soon as I'm done swatching a color and since this was right before "the incident", I never got to.)
Storm - $9 - Multichrome polish that shifts green-blue-purple-red. Swatch is 3 coats with top coat. Formula was a bit on the thinner side, compared to P&P's usual consistency. However, a lot of multichromes tend to be thin because you usually have a better shift in the colors when the polish is applied in thin layers, rather than one thick one. It wasn't runny though, still as easy to apply as usual. I love this color, it matches my hair perfectly.
I'm going to show you the outdoor shots in the shade first, since they captured the shift better. Taken with my Samsung Galaxy S6.
And now here's what it looks like in the artificial lights (Daylight Bulb and Ottlite), taken with my Nikon S700.
I Love It When You Call Me Big Poppy - $8.50 - gold holo glitters and pink flakes in a poppy red base. Swatch is 2 coats with top coat. I would dare to call this one a metallic, it had that sheen and glow to it. It dries smooth and is easy to apply.
Pretty In Pink - $7.50 - A light pale pink addition to the Dusty Cremes line. Swatch is 3 coats with top coat. Formula is on the thinner side, the 1st coat was very sheer, however, it's not streaky or hard to apply, self levels nicely. It's probably going to become one of my go-to pale pinks.
Lav Me, Lav Me Not - $7.50 - Pastel purple Dusty Creme. Swatch is 3 coats with top coat. It's opaque in 2 coats but I felt a 3rd coat evened out the finish better. Formula is not as thin as Pretty In Pink.
Don't Be A Pansy - $8.50 - White Crelly base with pink, gold, and purple glitters. It's the perfect crelly for spring! Swatch is 3 coats with top coat. If you like to do thicker coats, it is opaque in 2, I just tend to always do 3 coats for crelly glitters like these, I like to see the glitters on top and through the different layers.
